I follow a blog that gives a lot of book reviews, and this one was given 4.5 stars. The cover of the book didn't grab my attention, nor did the title, nor the praises from various newspapers. But I gave it a shot anyways.
I really really liked this book.
WINTER GARDEN, by Kristin Hannah
The few half of the book was just setting the stage and I really wasn't too sure if I was going to like it, but then it turned a huge corner, headed back to Leningrad, Russia 1940's............................and then I couldn't put it down. I am not very emotional and I love when a book makes me tear up........and Winter Garden did just that.
THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, by Oscar Wilde
I'm still not too sure why I read this book. I really don't care for "the classics" or any book written at the turn of the century. The writing style bores me to death. But I was recommended to read it, and it was a really short book.
I like the story, but would have enjoyed it better in a 5 page summary. That is all I needed. I guess there was a movie made in 2009......I might have even enjoyed the movie, but the original book is just not for me. Oh well, you win some and lose some.
